Galisteo
Visitors step back in time in this small village in the plains country 20 minutes south of Santa Fe. Buried pueblo ruins in the Galisteo Basin are best visible at dawn and sunset when the mounds cast deep shadows. As in ancient times, people revere the land. With the Garden of the Gods Rock, guided hikes to petroglyph sites, and horseback rides through the Galisteo Basin, there is much to see and do outdoors. There is also a lively artists' community here, as well as the historic Nuestra Senora de Remedios Church. Driving Directions From I-25 take exit 290; bear right on US-285, and turn right on NM-41, driving for five miles.
