Santa Fe County Celebrates Animals, Music and Golfers in June 6/1/04: Santa Fe County will be the site for events that will interest just about everyone.
Saturday and Sunday, June 5th and 6th the Spring Festival and Animal Fair takes place at El Rancho de las Golondrinas Living History Museum. It is Time to shear the Churro sheep on a Spanish colonial ranch! Visit with costumed villagers as they do their daily chores. Enjoy music, dance, art, and entertainment Activities are scheduled both days between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Food and drinks are available for purchase To reach the ranch leave I-25 at exit 271 (La Cienega), head north on County Road 50F/Entrada La Cienega for one mile, then turn left on Camino Capilla Vieja.
On Sunday, June 13th, the New Mexico Jazz Workshop presents The Early Summer Blues Festival at the Oscar Huber Memorial Ballpark in Madrid. Debbie Davies one of America's finest female blues guitarists headlines the event. Also performing will be Stan Hirsch, the Memphis P'Tails and Combo Special featuring Joannie Griffin and Larry Freedman. The ballpark is on NM 14 in Madrid. The park opens at noon with the concert beginning at 2:00 PM the environment is relaxed, casual and family friendly. You can bring your own food and beverages or make purchases from concessions provided at the event.
From Friday, June 25th through Sunday the 27th, some of the best golfers in the area will tee it up for the Sun Country Amateur Golf Association State Amateur Championship. The tournament takes place at the Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe on Caja del Rio Road off NM 599 approximately 2 miles north of the intersection of NM 599 and Airport Road.
