Sacred and "Eggciting" Santa Fe County Events Planned in April

3/29/04: Santa Fe County will be the site for many unique special events during April.

On April 10 you can hop aboard Santa Fe Southern Railway’s Easter Saturday Train. In addition to the scenic 36-mile round-trip from Santa Fe to Lamy there will be an Easter egg hunt with the Easter Bunny. The train leaves the station located at 410 S. Guadalupe Street in Downtown Santa Fe at 10:30 a.m.

Bow & Arrow and Buffalo Dances will be held at Nambé Pueblo on Easter Sunday April 11. These special dances are sacred to Native Americans and provide visitors a special and awe-inspiring look into Native culture. The dances will be held on the Pueblo immediately following the Morning Mass which begins at 9 a.m. The pueblo is located 18 miles north of Santa Fe go right on NM-503 off US 84/285 North and follow the signs to Nambé Pueblo.

Saturdays at Stieren a series of free community programs presented by The Santa Fe Opera conclude on April 24 with "Putting It All Together". The program is designed for children five and older but all ages interested in opera are welcome. It will take you behind the scenes for a first-hand glimpse of all that goes into making an opera come to life. Oliver Prezant well known in Santa Fe as an innovative music educator and conductor hosts the program. The program is free and begins at 10:00 a.m. in Stieren Hall on the grounds of the Santa Fe Opera seven miles north of Santa Fe off US 84/285 North.
