A 23-mile drive north
of Santa Fe will take you to San Ildefonso Pueblo, the most
visited northern pueblo in New Mexico and a flourishing art
community. The famous black-on- black pottery was first created
at San Ildefonso Pueblo and is sold at many of the pueblo artisans'
homes. The pueblo is also known for its natural beauty. Located
at the base of the beautiful Black Mesa, the Rio Grande meanders
through the pueblo, creating a lush habitat along its banks.
San Ildefonso is home to the San Ildefonso Pueblo Museum and
the San Ildefonso Fishing Lake. |
